NY Electronic waste Law NY's 2010 Electronic Equipment Recycling & Reuse Act established recycling requirements for manufacturers and consumers of covered electronic equipment. These devices may NOT be disposed of in landfills, waste-to-energy facilities, in the trash, or at curbside for trash pickup.

Who Qualifies as a Consumer? Under NY's e-waste law, "consumers" include individuals, schools, government entities, not-for-profic corporations, and businesses.

Covered Electronic Equipment Equipment that MUST be recycled includes desktop computers, laptops/tablets, VR headsets, monitors, 3-D printers, desktop printers, fax machines, electronic keyboards/mice, projectors, video game consoles, televisions (>4"), cable/satellite receivers, DVD players, VCRs, and digital music players.
