Ohio’s Data Protection Rules
In 2018, Ohio enacted the nation’s first law that incentivizes businesses to strengthen their cybersecurity. The Ohio Data Protection Act offers “safe harbor” to companies that voluntarily develop information security programs, should an unintentional data breach occur. With data protection in the spotlight, businesses may find themselves scrambling to implement qualifying cybersecurity programs. At the same time, it’s imperative not to overlook physical records. ShredSmart can help you remain compliant with HIPAA and other federal laws, offering one-time on-site shredding as well as secure containers and service schedules for ongoing needs.
OH Electronic Waste Recycling Rules
- Regulated Metals A Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP) analysis may be conducted by a laboratory on the e-waste from a business to determine whether it should be considered hazardous. Hazardous wastes have a concentration greater than the specified values for arsenic, barium, cadmium, chromium, lead, mercury, selenium, and silver.
- Cathode Ray Tubes (CRTs) CRTs are subject to regulation as a hazardous waste, unless a TCLP analysis demonstrates that they are not hazardous. This regulation does not cover CRTs from residential sources.
